Willam Ryder

William Ryder is a world renowned 7's player. He is known for his cheeky goose step and he lighting speed. He is known for his scoring unbelievable try from all over the park. Now a household name on the IRB 7s circuit after some dazzling footwork and speed over the past three seasons and some incredible tries. In his first overseas assignment at the 2005 RWC 7s, Ryder scored an end-to-end try with his first touch after coming on as a sub against Japan. Can play wing or playmaker and has tremendous acceleration from a standing start. .He has scored 752 points to-date of which he has scored 82 tries (410 points). He was part of the team which won the 2006 commonwealth games bronze medal in Melbourne, Australia with the 7's side. William Ryder is a very talented football (soccer) player and had career aspirations in this sport too. However, it was when playing football that he was spotted by Fijian legend Waisale Serevi who, impressed by his speed and agility, then introduced him to the game of sevens.
